Fly Fish Louisiana!

It’s no big secret what Louisiana has to offer an angler. The bountiful waters of South East Louisiana are waiting for you. Come see what the “Sportsman’s Paradise” has in store today!

Sight casting for redfish with a fly rod is our specialty! Although we are partial to fly fishing, we also love to guide clients who prefer conventional gear.

When?

Fishing in Louisiana is a year round sport with many different species to target. The inshore fishing is premier. All of the species we target in the marshes and bayous can be caught year round. The most prime time to visit to target large bull redfish is fall and winter. Spring is a special time as well. The fish are hungry and the numbers are great! Summers in Louisiana are not for the faint of heart; we prefer to get out early in the morning before the sun gets too high.

Where?

Our home base is New Orleans. We mostly fish out of Hopedale and Delacroix Island, which are both about 35 miles down the road from “The Big Easy”. The Mississippi River Delta and its estuaries are abundant with creatures. The marshes and bayous are full of life. Commercial fishing is the biggest industry in Hopedale and Delacroix. Shrimp and Crab boats fill the canals of these small fishing villages.

Why?

Salt water fly fishing is an extraordinary sport. It is not for the timid with species that are illusive and hard to catch. Most species also require longer cast to have a chance at hooking them. Redfish, on the other hand, are a totally different class. These fish are cooperative and are ready and willing to eat. Most of our shots are inside 30 feet and the accuracy is not as important as tarpon or permit. This is a great starting point for fly anglers who want to break into saltwater fishing.

"Fishing is not just a hobby; it's a state of mind."
